A caring alternative

CR Cremations was begun in 1992 by Charlie and Kay Rohrer to offer a caring alternative to people when they lose an animal they cherish.

Clients have ranged from large organizations to a child’s beloved pet. We believe each is equally as important and understand the difficulty of the experience.

Animal lovers ourselves, we know how difficult the loss of a pet can be.

Because of this, we handle each animal privately and with great care.

It is very important to us that you receive all the cremains of your animal and offer a variety ways to return them.

Containers for the cremains are discussed and customized to the desires of each client.

No matter what choice the owner makes, a custom engraved brass plate is also available.

Charlie and Kay have cremated my show horses and corgis since 1992. They have become friends. No one will treat your animals with greater respect.

I first met Charlie and Kay Rohrer of CR Cremations in the early 2000s when I had to put down my 17- year- old Arab mare. She was my first horse, and I loved her dearly. When she died, people told me about “rendering” facilities - yikes! I was so fortunate to have found CR Cremations. My beloved mare was treated with respect, and I was assured of getting all her remains in a beautiful wooden box.

When my healthy Arab/Andalusian mare died suddenly and violently three years ago I was devastated. Would CR Cremations still be in business? How would I find them? My vet happened to have a card with their name and contact info. Kay gave me the name of a polite young man who picked up my mare, again with the dignity she deserved, and delivered her to CR Cremations.

Kay and Charlie are so respectful of the animals and their owners. My horses are family, and I hope that CR Cremations can stay in business for a long time. It is hard to find such kind and sincere people, who have become friends. And I cannot begin to thank them enough for the work they do.

The owners of CR Cremations are kind and compassionate and truly professional people who do an excellent job. I have sent my horses there and they take their time explaining all the beautiful urns that are available in various sizes and the engraved name plates that you can use on them. It is a wonderful way to keep our beloved pets and horses near us and in our hearts.

CR Cremation/Mrs. Kay Rohrer took care of my horse, Lily during a very difficult time for me and my wife. Mrs. Kay took care of all the arrangements of getting her from New Bolton and her cremation. Se went beyond on doing an outstanding job during a difficult time. We will recommend Mrs. Kay’s services without any hesitation.

The folks at CR Cremations are such a wonderful and caring family business. They have been a comfort to work with when one of our rescued animals has passed away. They are very respectful, conscientious, and patient with us through those troubling times. We highly recommend them to anyone in need of cremations services for a beloved animal.

“The Rohrers are wonderful and have the right mindset to handle the horse while the owner is crying on their shoulder. They are discreet and understanding and the right person for a difficult job. So many of our horses have been cremated by the Rohrers. Some we bury with a grave stone, while others we scatter in the fields. One very special horse of ours was buried in his special oak box below his statue in front of Churchill Downs where he won the Derby and the hearts of America.”
